Omaha Alumnae Panhellenic Scholarship Application

$1000 Scholarship

 

Application Deadline:  Postmarked no later than February 1, 2004

To support the Panhellenic Creed and its ideals for wide and wise human service to the Nebraska college community, the Omaha Alumnae Panhellenic Association (OAPA) will award two $1000 scholarships to two outstanding women attending a Nebraska college or university.  These awards will be presented at the 2004 Gathering of the Greeks in April.

The Panhellenic Creed

WE, THE UNDERGRADUATE MEMBERS of women’s fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community.  Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities.

 

WE, THE FRATERNITY WOMEN OF AMERICA, stand for service thorough the development of character inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual, fraternity and Panhellenic life.  The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenet by which we strive to live.

CRITERIA
  1. Permanent residence is in Cass, Douglas, Sarpy or Washington county in Nebraska; or Pottawattamie county in Iowa.
  1. Attending one of the following colleges or universities on a full-time basis:  University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska at Omaha, University of Nebraska at Kearney, Creighton University, or Nebraska Wesleyan University.
  1. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  1. Has completed at least 60 credit hours.
  1. Is an initiated member of one of the following sororities:  Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Kappa, Theta Phi Alpha, Zeta Tau Alpha.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Using the Panhellenic Creed (see above) as a guide, please provide information setting forth why OAPA should select you to receive the OAPA Scholarship.  Include:
1.      Personal Information
  • Your name, campus address and campus phone number
  • Sorority
  • Your permanent residence address, including county
2.      Activities—include offices held and committee involvement
  • Sorority
  • Campus—student government, student organizations, athletics, honor societies, etc
  •  Other—philanthropic, religious, social, etc.
3.      Honors or special recognition—student of the week, employee of the month, athletic honors, scholastic honors, etc.
4.      Work experience
5.      Future plans after your education is complete
6.      Official copy of your college transcript
7.      Two letters of recommendation
8.      In 300 words or less, describe yourself and what you hope to obtain from your college experience.
